How We Score and Rank Every Tool

The TechStack Authority TeamJanuary 20, 20264 min read

Every score on TechStack Authority is built from the same five inputs: current published pricing, documented feature and API depth, learning curve relative to category peers, scalability headroom, and a synthesis of verified user sentiment from public review platforms.

We do not buy licenses or run live workloads against every tool — for a catalog this size, that isn't a claim we can honestly make. What we do instead is research and verification: checking pricing pages directly, reading documentation closely, and cross-referencing sentiment across multiple independent sources before a score is finalized.

Affiliate relationships never factor into a score. A tool's ranking is locked in before we ever consider whether an affiliate program exists for it — see our full Affiliate Disclosure in the footer for how that separation works in practice.

Scores are revisited whenever a vendor materially changes pricing or repositions a plan, which is also what feeds the pricing-change posts on this blog.
